The Cunning Man – a weeknight treat

The Cunning Man – Burghfield

Monday night saw us returning to an old favourite, The Cunning Man in Burghfield. Even though we have been here a few times before and always been pleased, on Monday I have to say every aspect of our visit was outstanding.

Inside its rural and rustic charm immediately makes you feel at home. The menu is extensive and with so many appealing choices it took us at least 40 minutes to decide on starters and mains (we were also having a lovely catch up with Nan currently visiting from Spain). Paul and I decided to share our starters (mainly because I couldn’t decide on just one), opting for the Lamb Koftas and Tear, Share and Dip Cheesy Garlic Bread. Both were divine and left us wanting more more more.

For mains, Paul opted for the Chicken and Leek Pie and Nan and I had the Chicken Forestiere. Both perhaps looking a little colour bland on the plate (not as exciting to the eye as the Lamb Koftas) but boy did the flavours and quality speaks volumes. I think I have found my all-time favourite chicken dish!

And to compliment all this wonderful food, of course a glass of Prosecco! To my great disappointment we simply couldn’t manage desert too, so I think we’ll be popping back for a ‘Pudding Platter for Two’ accompanied by more Prosecco, of course!

Lastly I would like to compliment the staff and service at the Cunning Man, attentive but not intrusive, friendly yet professional, making our visit an absolute pleasure.

P.S Our table is booked for New Year’s Eve, see you then!
